Postdoctoral and PhD

Graduate and Postdoctoral Training
EARTH provides graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with interdisciplinary training that connects engineering, chemistry, atmospheric science, and related fields. Through strong partnerships with the HVACR industry, trainees gain hands-on research experience that connects directly to real-world technology and workforce needs.
Postdoctoral researchers benefit from cross-institution mentoring, shared research resources, and collaborative projects across the EARTH consortium.
Interdisciplinary Atmospheric Chemistry Graduate Program
EARTH is supporting the development of a new interdisciplinary Atmospheric Chemistry graduate program at the University of Hawaiʻi. The program brings together expertise from engineering, chemistry, atmospheric sciences, astronomy, and planetary science to prepare students to use advanced modeling, simulation, and experimental research techniques.
As a Minority Serving Institution serving Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, the University of Hawaiʻi is positioned to expand access to advanced graduate education and research opportunities. EARTH will recruit students through partner undergraduate programs, atmospheric chemistry programs, and Pacific Rim university partnerships.
Graduates of this program will be prepared to lead in the HVACR industry and related sectors, with deep expertise in refrigerant chemistry, environmental systems, and global sustainability impacts.
