The EARTH Summer Venture Program is a dynamic initiative designed to increase access to engineering education for all students from the state of Kansas and the Greater Kansas City area with a minimum high school GPA of 2.75. Modeled after the successful KU Summer Venture in Business Program, EARTH provides an immersive experience that introduces high school students to the field of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) engineering through hands-on activities, laboratory tours, and networking opportunities with industry professionals.

Program Overview

The University of Kansas will host the EARTH Summer Venture Program, offering an engaging, full-day experience focused on HVACR engineering. This program provides students and their families with the tools and knowledge to navigate the path to higher education and engineering careers.

A unique component of EARTH is a specialized tutorial session for parents/guardians, covering essential topics such as:

  • The engineering profession and career pathways
  • College and trade-school application processes
  • Financial aid and scholarship opportunities

  • Cost Per Session: FREE!
  • Housing & Meals: Students will stay in KU residence halls and receive provided meals
  • Safety Rules: Once you arrive, no using cars to other places. You have to stay on campus.
  • Student Perks: Free swag including t-shirts, jackets, and backpacks
  • Field Trip: Visit Icorium Engineering to explore labs and meet industry professionals
  • Final Showcase & Family Reception: Students will present their sustainable company pitch in a poster competition at the end of the session
