Purpose of SLC

By engaging current and future students, we improve the pipeline of future technicians, engineers, and researchers to support ongoing research, expand the potential HVACR workforce, and generate greater innovation in the refrigeration space

Integration of SLC with EARTH

The SLC consists of undergraduate and graduate students from various disciplines involved in ERC EARTH. The members of the SLC are in many ways the future leaders of ERC EARTH by means of future ERC directors, PIs, industry partners/associates and community leaders. Hence an ecosystem within the council is established which stands on the four pillars of ERC EARTH. The SLC integrates itself with the four pillars by upholding four core values of Exploration, Camaraderie, Advancement & Competence. These values mirror the overall spirit of each of the four pillars. Hence, a synergy of contributing and receiving, to and from the four pillars ensures opportunities for the students to grow into the aforementioned future leaders.

The SLC will use outreach to become involved in the innovation ecosystems through technology outreach and collaboration and networking. The SLC will collaborate with Engineering workforce development through Academic outreach and Mentoring and internships. The SLC will use apprenticeships to be involved in convergent research through GA and conferences and research participat

SLC Activities

SLC members meet remotely every month for professional development workshops, peer mentoring, seminars (research update/discussions) on diverse topics and outreach experiences. This fosters the culture of inclusion, community growth and collaborations among the students in the council. SLC is also tasked with annual SWOT analysis at each campus for ERC EARTH and NSF. The members get an unique opportunity to explore and work with students/PIs outside of their own academic bubble.
