EARTH Members Partner to Commercialize Breakthrough Refrigerant Separation Technology
The National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Environmentally Applied Refrigerant Technology Hub (EARTH) proudly congratulates EARTH industry members Icorium and Hudson Technologies on announcing a preliminary agreement to commercialize Icorium's patented extractive distillation technology for refrigerant reclamation. The partnership marks an important step in bringing innovative, sustainable HVACR technologies from research to commercial deployment. The collaboration aims to combine Icorium's advanced separation technology with Hudson Technologies' expertise as one of the nation's leading refrigerant reclaimers.
The successful commercialization of this technology has the potential to strengthen the circular refrigerant economy by increasing refrigerant recovery and reuse, reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions, and helping ensure a reliable supply of reclaimed refrigerants. As the HVACR industry continues its transition to lower-global-warming-potential refrigerants, innovations like Icorium's extractive distillation technology will play a critical role in protecting the environment while supporting a more sustainable and resilient cooling infrastructure.
EARTH's mission is to accelerate the development and deployment of environmentally responsible refrigerant technologies through collaboration among universities, industry, government agencies, and national laboratories. As EARTH continues to advance innovative solutions for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration applications, industry partnerships remain critical to achieving meaningful impact.
Congratulations to Icorium and Hudson Technologies on this exciting milestone!
